It’s a strange phenomenon. One day, you wake up and realize that you’ve gotten older. You don’t feel any different but you start seeing little reminders—in your ears, in your nose and above your eyes. You may not be losing the hair on top of your head yet, but these errant hairs make you look older, tied and sloppy. So get rid of them.
This is an easy predicament to fix. And you want to fix it. A man once told his barber, “Guys have hair, who cares?” To which the barber replied, “You’ve got long hairs sticking out of your nose—who wants to kiss that face?” Brutal, but true. Take a trimmer and run it around each nostril. Thirty seconds in each should suffice. Don’t go overboard. A little hair is a good thing, as it filters dust and dirt.
Avoid looking like the Wolfman by shaving the back of your neck once a week. It gives you a cleaned up look—like you’ve just had a haircut. It’s not as tricky as it sounds. After you’ve shaved your face, turn around and grab a hand mirror to see the back of your head. Using just a little shaving cream, shave from the end of your hair to just below your collar. And don’t forget about the front of your neck. If a few chest hairs have crept north of your chest, pluck ’em.
If you’re noticing hairs in between the brows, don’t shave them. You’ll need to pluck them (after a warm shower). Here’s how to do it quickly and easily. If you want to thin out bushy brows, comb them straight up. Any straggly hairs sticking out should be trimmed just to the top of the brow.
Often overlooked, some barbers take care of this for you, but be sure to watch out for these pesky hairs. And they’re sometimes hard to spot, especially ones on top of your ears that blend in with the rest of your hair. Use a trimmer to prevent any knicks and clean out the ear canal along with the tops and the lobes.
